    November 21, 2024 — From Peggy Ducey, Interim City Manager: Point Arena has received over 8.6 inches of rain since early Wednesday morning when the storm began. The City’s wastewater treatment ponds are filling up rapidly and it’s critical that we reduce water draining into the ponds. We’re asking that all residents and businesses reduce water usage as much as possible. For the time being we ask that showers, toilet flushes, and other water use be significantly reduced or eliminated until the storm is over.     November 18, 2024 — The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Mendocino County and surrounding areas from late Tuesday night through late Thursday night, as an atmospheric river is expected to bring heavy and persistent rainfall to the region. Forecasts predict 3 to 5 inches of rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, with an additional 2 to 4 inches on Thursday. Steady moderate rain could result in urban flooding, rising creeks and streams, and an increased risk of rock and landslides, particularly on southwest-facing mountain slopes.Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay vigilant and prepare for potential evacuations or disruptions. Poor drainage and urban areas are especially at risk, with more extensive flooding possible as the rain continues into the weekend.     November 15, 2024 — The Willow County Water District has become the latest addition to the Ukiah Valley Water Authority, joining as the fourth member of the regional body overseeing public water services for the greater Ukiah Valley. The Authority was formed by a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) agreement previously signed by the city of Ukiah, and the Redwood Valley and Millview County Water Districts.
